How to Create and Restore Backups in cPanel

cPanel Backup Guide

Regular backups are essential to protect your website data. cPanel provides built-in backup tools.

Full Backup

  1. Log in to cPanel
  2. Go to FilesBackup
  3. Click Download a Full Account Backup
  4. Select destination (Home Directory)
  5. Enter notification email
  6. Click Generate Backup
  7. Download when ready

Partial Backups

Download individual components:

  • Home Directory – All website files
  • MySQL Databases – Individual database exports
  • Email Forwarders – Forwarding configurations
  • Email Filters – Filter rules

Restoring a Backup

Files

  1. Upload backup archive to File Manager
  2. Extract to public_html

Database

  1. Open phpMyAdmin
  2. Select the database
  3. Click Import
  4. Choose the SQL backup file
  5. Click Go
